When she was five years, Linda Blair had to be accustomed to being in the spotlight. Initially, she was an infant model, and later acting as a actress. When among 600 hopefuls, she was selected for the part in the role of Regan, the possessed child as seen for the film The Exorcist (1973). Linda quickly gained worldwide fame, was awarded the Golden Globe, and seemed to be set to take the Academy Award for that role, but when it leaked details of how certain aspects of the character weren't done by her (the evil voice was created by Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds from a stunt dummy utilized) the dream was shattered, and with that disappointment probably came the first blow in what seemed to be the beginning of an A-list career. In the following years, she had no trouble securing leads in a wide range of pictures, including the hugely successful TV films Born Innocent (1974) (the most watched TV show that year) and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975) in addition to the Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). She was arrested and given three years' probation when she peer-pressured her into purchasing cocaine when she turned the age of 18. Linda's career in Hollywood was reduced to B films and occasional TV appearances as a guest after her well-publicized arrest on cocaine possession.
